We’d love your help in documenting original #art4 migrant rights at these marches!


1. See Pro-Migrant Art, i.e. posters, puppets, banners, costumes, signs.
2. Capture it (photos, audio and/or video)
3. Upload and tag it #art4


Use mobile apps:
Photos: Twitter, Instagram or Flickr
Audio Clips: SoundCloud (3-5 minutes)
Video Clips: Vine (6 second videos) or Youtube Capture app
or email stuff or links to us at info@culturestrike.net

We will re-share them on social media and post stories about the art,

@SouthLAReport Reporter Corps accepting applications: Learn to report on your community!
Do you want to learn about reporting and multimedia production? Make a difference in your community? Get published?
Reporter Corps is accepting applicants for its first South LA program.
Program Details
Reporter Corps offers young adults (18-24) direct experience with digital news production, city government, fair representation, and storytelling. Reporters will also benefit from the journalistic resources at USC Annenberg. Reporter Corps members will be paired with professional mentors. Reporters’ work will appear in the community news website Intersections South LA (www.intersectionssouthla.org). Program runs summer 2013.
Application Requirements
Ideal applicants grew up or live in the South LA area, hold a high school diploma, and can commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for three months. Training, mentorship, and a weekly stipend will be offered.
You don’t need to have a journalism background to be part of Reporter Corps, but you do need to have a strong sense of curiosity, desire to express yourself, and interest in improving your community.
A statement of interest and resume should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3 via the application form here.

Apply now for @CHIRLA Wise Up Summer Program

The annual Wise Up! Summer Program Application is out this week. Wise Up!’s Summer Program is a six week non-paid internship where high school students with a strong desire to get involved in their community will have the opportunity to learn about organizing and advocating for immigrant rights. In addition to personal and professional development, by the end of the program, interns will have a grasp on organizing basics, event planning, and will benefit from peer college counseling. The Summer Program will culminate with a Northern California College Tour Trip where we will visit six colleges/universities.

This is the fourth year that CHIRLA hosts this program - this will be the second year that I’ll be leading it - and it is an experience that transforms young people.
